I am super excited to tell you about something.
(& a little scared.)
Over the last few years I have been seeking better ways to practice healing. I have become frustrated with how difficult it is to practice Ayurveda effectively in a busy modern life.
I have been casting about for better ways to support effective healing, learn how to guide people to be in clearer communication with their bodies & find manageable, affordable solutions to health problems within the context of our day-to-day lived experience.
Ayurveda supplies some great principles & techniques - but lacks aspects that I have increasingly felt are necessary for deep healing (at least for you & I, here & now). Basically I have been looking for a wellness modality that synthesizes the holistic mindset of traditional practices like Ayurveda with emergent Western ways of living & science-based markers of progress.
Wouldn't it be nice to find reliable holistic healing knowledge that is situated in the logic of the world we live in?
As it turns out I am not alone in this desire!
A cadre of practitioners from many backgrounds & modalities have been working with this intention in mind. (I am resisting the urge to dive into musings on theory & history right now!)
For now I just want to announce that I have begun to incorporate what is referred to as Root Cause or Mineral Balancing & the interpretation of HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) labs, into my practice.
Adding a Lab Test to my offerings is a big step away from Classical Ayurveda. What it offers is a window into how effectively your body is managing nutritional resources & what to do to restore your body's resources & capacity to heal.
With a simple hair sample we can get insight into:
your metabolic rate & cellular energy potential; what your fatigue or sleep issues are stemming from for example
how well your adrenals & thyroid are functioning; not just hormone levels, but how well your body is responding to those hormones
how much actual stress your body is dealing with; most stress - depleted people don't have the energy to understand how stressed they are. Stress depletes minerals & low minerals cause oxidative stress which depletes minerals. Feel familiar?
how well you are absorbing nutrients & utilizing glucose (hint: it's often related to minerals)
if your current supplementation regime or diet is helping or making it harder to heal
if you should be worried about heavy metal exposure affecting your health (& guidance about how to safely reduce your heavy metal load)
if your mood & mental health are tied to mineral depletion or toxicity of metals or nutrients (just like Ayurveda always says: it is all about balance).
& illumination into a bunch of other wellness issues as minerals are key in every aspect of your body's self - regulation capacity.
I am really so excited about this whole thing (you know this if we have spoken at any time in the last 6 months!). All I want to do is talk about mineral balance!
I would love to have a conversation with you about your minerals & how HTMA testing can invigorate your wellness journey!
